Making this album has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. The idea germinated when I wrote one song in honor of my mentor’s passing, legendary jazz guitarist Tony Romandini in 2020. I then wrote a second song for my friend Donna, and had the idea to write a few more songs for an eventual EP. What started out as 2 songs, quickly became 5, then 7, 8, 9, and finally 10. I decided to release these 10 songs as one full-length album.
The first two songs recorded, “Mind over Matter” and “Donna” include my good friend Daniel Verdecchia playing drums. I played bass and we recorded these instruments simultaneously to get a tight rhythm section as the songs’ foundations. I wanted Daniel to perform drums on most of the other songs on the album, but he encouraged me to do it myself. The 8 other songs on the album are performed (instruments and vocals) entirely by me. The album was completely recorded, mixed and mastered by myself. I initially wanted to have other people perform these different tasks as well, but gained more and more confidence to do it myself. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I hope you enjoy it.
